Delaware Children's Museum: Block Party

The Delaware Children's Museum in Wilmington in hosting a Block Party.  But this isn't the kind of Block Party that you're used to experiencing.  This Block Party is literally a room full of blocks of all sizes and shapes. Plan out the type of structure you want to go for, from towers and tunnels to whole cities, and then start building!

From huge foam blocks to tinkertoys and duplos, you have all the materials you need to just keep building anything that you can think of.  If you start to run out of ideas, take a look at the various famous structures that have been built all over the world.  Try your hand at your own Egyptian Pyramid, Stonehenge, or Arc de Triomphe.  Small hands even have their own space on the floor to beginning learning the fun of stacking blocks - and knocking them down.

This exhibit is not permanent, however, and will only be at the Delaware Children's Museum until March 29th.  If you have yet to plan a trip to this interactive, hands-on Local Destination, now would be a great time to check it out! Free with admission, Block Party is loads of fun for every age (just make sure you share some of the blocks with the kids).

  2. Love this! We'll try to go during our spring break. The Franklin Institute used to put out its collection of Giant Tinkertoys at Christmas time which my kids loved.
