Riverside Concert Series at Glen Foerd

What makes the perfect summer evening?  Dinner is over, the sun is on its way down, and the air is cooling off.  Where do you go?  What do you do to enjoy it?  This week, we took advantage of the amazing weather by heading over to hands down one of the prettiest spots in the city of Philadelphia.
The Glen Foerd Estate is a beautiful historical house on 18 acres of gorgeous grounds that run right along the Delaware River.  It's tucked away on the very edges of Philly, but the location is so quick and easy to get to from anywhere in the city as well as the suburbs.  We honestly had trouble remembering that we were only a short trip back to our home and not down south on vacation.  Absolutely stunning and peaceful, the Glen Foerd's grounds are open dawn to dusk everyday for FREE.
Although you definitely don't need a reason to visit this place, we had the pleasure of attending one of their fantastic Pay As You Wish Riverside Concerts - part of a series continuing throughout the summer.  Though it officially took place under their new outdoor banquet venue (complete with a nice sized dance floor), guests of all ages sprawled over the lawn in chairs and blankets.  From groups that gathered in large sociable circles with goodies brought from home and families dancing on the grass to couples out on a date and individuals enjoying the picturesque views, this event drew a great sized, good spirited crowd.
Bring your own chair (blanket, food, friends, family, etc.) and Pay What You Wish for one of the best summer concerts in Philadelphia this season (plus amazing goodies available to purchase from What's for Dessert? or The Dining Car).  And remember, you can enjoy the grounds for FREE everyday or book a guided mansion tour running 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Check out their Calendar of Events to see what's coming up in the next few months and start planning your visit now.  A trip to the Glen Foerd Estate is a must for history buffs, nature lovers, and explorers of the Philadelphia area!
Thursday, July 14 - The Red Hot Ramblers

Thursday, August 20 - The Philadelphia Banjo Society

Concerts run from 7pm to 8pm
