The Refresh Option

I hate to admit it, but I must: I really find that I have gotten away from the Daily Vacation mindset recently.  Not only have we been really busy, but this pregnancy has made me a lot sicker than the last one and shows no signs of letting up anytime soon.  Despite this, I have still made time to go out and get together with friends and family and visit some fantastic local destinations, but my everyday mindset has turned into more of a "get through the day" than "enjoy the day".

Fortunately, the Daily Vacation mindset (like almost any project) can be renewed whenever you're ready to put yourself back into it.  You can stop in the middle of the chaos and take stock of what you're doing with your life and if it's what you planned to do with your life.  I like to compare this idea to hitting the refresh button on your browser (which is funny, because I'm not a techy person at all).  Where ever you are online, if things are not going as planned or if you get stuck, you can always hit refresh and start over.

The ability to start over can be an amazing gift.  Although some aspects of culture tell us differently, most things in life are not a one-shot, all or nothing deal.  Certain things may be easier to attain at some points of life than others, but that doesn't mean that they are impossible if you miss your peak moment.

So today I have decided to reinstate the everyday enjoyment of my life.  I have put things in order of what needs to be done to make sure that I have time to do something that I simply want to do.  I encourage you to remember that each day should be looked at as an opportunity and not a burden.  And if you start to forget again, you can always remember tomorrow and start over.

  1. Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I get so caught up in what I have to do I forget to enjoy the moment.
