A Walk on the Wild Side: AZA Reciprocal Program

With summer just around the corner, Daily Vacationer is kicking off the season with a tour of the zoos in Greater Philadelphia.  Follow us all week as we take A Walk on the Wild Side!

To begin, we want to make sure that our readers know about the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.  There are over 6,000 zoos and aquariums that are accredited members of the association.  Not only does visiting an AZA zoo mean that you are supporting a location that provides great care for its animals, but if you are a member of an AZA zoo, you could be saving yourself some money.

AZA locations acknowledge your membership with discounts on admission to the other reciprocal zoos and aquariums within the organization.  Daily Vacationer has a membership to the Philadelphia Zoo, and we discovered that with that membership we get 50% off admission to the Elmwood Park Zoo and FREE admission to the Brandywine Zoo!  It also works in reverse with an admission discount to the Philadelphia Zoo for members of the Brandywine and Elmwood Park Zoos.

If you are considering a zoo membership this summer (and after visiting these places, we strongly recommend one), take note of which are a part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Reciprocal Program.  We loved every zoo that we visited in the area, and this is the best way to guarantee you'll get to experience all of them this summer!
