The Holidays at Johnson's Corner Farm

Johnson's Corner Farm is known for being a place where family and friends come together throughout the year to make wonderful memories. With lots to do, see, and eat, Johnson's is great for every age from their farm market to their large play area, so of course, the holidays are the perfect time of year  to visit! All lit up with thousands of twinkling lights, Johnson's transforms into a beautiful display topped off with seasonal extras like their new light show, a visit with Santa, and, of course, their famous light show hayrides.

We had a lot of fun during our own visit to Johnson's Corner Farm this December.  There was so much to do and look at!  Our first stop was the the Farm Market to pick up our activity tickets and plan our evening. We love that they made room indoors with plenty of seating for families eating or warming up after a chilly hayride.  This is the place to share the yummy treats and freshly baked goodies and pies that the market is so well-known for.  We also advise getting a cup (or two or three depending on the coldness of the night) of their hot cocoa - delicious! The market is also a great place to pick up beautiful gifts, seasonal decorations, and a variety of fun toys. Personally, we like to buy ornaments when we want to take home a memory of a good time, so we were glad to find a few of those as well.  Make sure you pick up your special 3D Snowflakes Glasses too (don't lose them - there's a hayride coupon attached!)

In the back of the market, a lovely Christmas display is set up with Santa Claus himself waiting to greet each child and take pictures with them.  While we wandered by admiring the decorated tractor, we got to overhear a conversation between Santa and the child on his knee - a serious and thoughtful exchange about the merits of a certain wished for toy.  We give this Santa moment a big thumbs up. After children are finished with their meeting and picture taking time with Mr. Claus, they can spend a fun time decorating cookies and gingerbread men with kits that are for sale.  The cookie kits are a fun way to add a sit-down break to the visit (giving accompanying adults time to relax and chat among themselves), and they also make a great group activity.

There are delicious treats to be enjoyed outdoors as well with S'mores Kits for sale in the Discovery Barnyard (thoughtfully assembled with a cookie that can be slid on the stick as well as Johnson's own special marshmallows created to roast without catching fire as easily as the store bought kind). The fire pits had a gathering throughout the night, not just for s'mores making but also for groups stopping back after exploring the brightly lit up play area. We were very appreciative of the higher walls around the fires. Everyone could feel the warmth and get their s'more creation roasting without the worry of a curious little one getting too close.  We also loved the beautiful manger scene complete with some live stable animals.

Another highlight of the evening was the new Light Show on the Lake. Sounds of favorite holiday tunes floated through the air in sync with a dazzling lights display (we loved how we got double the entertainment from the reflection on the lake). This 18 minute show is definitely worth heading to the Animal Farm for! Once you're over there make sure to check out the Wacky Bridge and Rope Maze - both a magical walk through all decked out in Christmas lights. Feeding the farm animals is always fun too!

The hands down favorite of holiday festivities at Johnson's Corner Farm is, of course, the Light Show Hayride.  Families, friends, and strangers come together to watch and sing along with fully lit up wagons twinkling in time with both rousing and relaxing holiday music. The ride begins with a bang as the music launches into an exciting tune from "The Polar Express" before seguing into others including "Run, Run, Rudolph" eventually easing visitors back to the farm with the famous "Linus and Lucy". The experience is fun and festive and a perfect tradition to share during the holiday season.  Most of our fellow riders were returning guests from previous years and excited to be back again.

Look for special Combo Ticket prices and Group Ticket sales to get the most out of your trip to the farm. Johnson's Corner Farm also sells fresh Fraser Fir and Douglas Fir trees. All holiday activities are open daily with the exception of Christmas Eve (just the market open) and Christmas Day (everything closed). Check the calendar for specific dates and times as well as special extras on the weekends!
